Chester County’s vibrant community brings together a multitude of cultures, traditions, and heritages. This December, the Chester County History Center (CCHC) will share a spirit of unity and togetherness with the second annual Season of Lights event, a celebration for all community members to share in the warmth of the holiday season. Season of Lights will display the rich culture of Chester County’s diverse population. Season of Lights is an invitation to embrace our differences, celebrate our shared humanity, and create lasting connections while immersed in a truly unique experience that reflects the spirit of Chester County’s multicultural community.

Join a presentation and panel discussion about the history of bias in science, from the usage of "science" to justify bias during the eugenics movement, to the ongoing struggle to prevent bias in the medical field from affecting patient treatment. This program is held in conjunction with the Smithsonian exhibition, The Bias Inside Us, now on display at the Chester County History Center (CCHC.) This presentation will be held in-person at the History Center, with light refreshments and the opportunity to tour the exhibit before the event begins.
This program will start feature a 30-minute presentation by Dr. Brent Ruswick on the history of the eugenics movement both nationally and locally. The program continues with Dr. Tiffany Cooke, a pediatric hospitalist. Dr. Cooke holds an MA in Ethics, which strengthens how she thinks about healthcare systems--integrating operational insights with an ethical lens to advance a more just, equitable, and reliable model of care.
