Swimming is a life skill
Swimming is a life skill, much like riding a bicycle, fishing or building an appreciation for the outdoors. Yet, unlike recreational hobbies, being a strong swimmer is also a life-saving skill that all children should have access to develop.
There are cultural & historical factors that explain why children of color are at a higher risk.
7TH GRADE INITIATIVE
The transition into adolescence is one of the most dynamic and influential periods of development, as children undergo broad changes. The YMCA of Greater Brandywine offers all local seventh graders a free membership to the YMCA. Kids at this age are discovering who they are, and we want to ensure that they’re set up for future success through an active lifestyle.
