On April 1, 2025 Senator Cory Booker made history. He stood on the floor of the Senate for 25 hours and 5 minutes to reclaim democracy and remind Americans that “We, the people “ means all of us.
His personal story of how the great statesman from Georgia, John Lewis’ stand on the Edmond Pettus Bridge on Bloody Sunday, March 7, 1965 resonated all the way to New Jersey, and impacted his family is a testimony to the power that one person can make a difference.
He challenged his colleagues in the Senate to declare that what we have witnessed in these recent days is not democratic or republican, it is simply wrong! He encouraged each of them to choose what is right and to get into “good trouble”. He invited the Senate not to stand alone but together and Senator Cory Booker smashed Storm Thurmond’s record setting 1957 filibuster against integration!
In the days to come I hope that you will consider your moment to stand, stand with your community and stand with a local branch of the NAACP. Join us making “good trouble”!
Blessings,
President Richelle Foreman Gunter

THE 2025 MANDATE FOR LEADERSHIP
NAACP President Johnson reacts to
President-elect Trump’s Cabinet Appointments.
From accused criminals to confirmed authors of Project 2025, the President-elect's cabinet appointments present a daunting outlook for the next four years". Proposed policies under Project 2025 include significant rollbacks in regulatory protections, reductions in social welfare programs, the dismantling of the federal civil service workforce, and ban any focus on equity. It's implementation threatens to reverse decades of progress in civil rights, social justice, and equity, particularly impacting Black and marginalized communities.
Let's be clear - Our 2025 should be a year that advances the progress made in the last four years, not seek to revert it." —

"When I take off my uniform, will I be safe from harm—
Or will you do me as the Germans did the Jews?
When I've helped this world to save, shall I still be color's slave?
Or will Victory change, Your antiquated views?"
